Today I would like to talk about "sustainable" fashion. What is sustainable fashion and why is so important recently?
Sustainable fashion is a quite new concept of modern fashion design more than 10 years that is the opposite word of fast fashion. It is also an important futuristic term that protect and preserve natural environment in this planet that we are all sharing in the same time.
Since unveiled the fact that many fashion industries are actually the worst earth polluters in the world especially using chemical product to dye the fabrics, the idea of sustainable fashion is becoming more and more important for the future of the fashion vision. Now so many textile industries are investing new technological materials that are also considered as sustainable resources. Consciousness of the organic cotton raised our awareness of real qualities and product values. Stella McCartney that is a fashion designer and third daughter of Paul McCartney from The Beatles proposed sustainable fashion earlier than anybody else in the world, started to produce no leather and no fur bags and accessories. Her strong statement of not to killing animals anymore for the fashion in the future made us aware of humanitarian way of thinking how to recreate low environmental and social impact.

There is a word also "ECO" that is similer to "sustainable", however there are not many people knows those topic are slightly different between "ECO" and "sustainable".
"ECO" means ecology that is the study of the relationships between living organisms, including humans, and their physical environment. Generally we use the word "ECO" as an environmental friendly symbol.
"sustainable" means also eco friendly, however there are another definitions including human rights and social circulation. The focus of "sustainable" is also the consideration of the socially vulnerable people and the work system such as fashion factory slaves who are ignored human rights in order to produce garments as fast as possible. Many fashion designer are conscious the importance of handmade products because of them high qualities that have special spirits and loves in the characters of the products. The concept of "sustainable" also applies to the economic strategy of local businesses which create circular economy system from using local materials.
Definition of "sustainable" fashion therefore includes the meaning such as..

Choosing the each textiles carefully that is no more harm to the global environment is very important brand statement of MOMOZONO Arte della Sartoria since the beginning more than 10 years ago. The reason of using many antiques and vintage resources are also in order to not to pollute anymore this planet but also them high qualities that almost impossible to reproduce again.
The word "shabby chic" was used as a trendy concept for a while in the world of interior design, especially focusing on antique furnitures. It was a cultural movement that reuse ready made value adding completely another values as new products inspired by the philosophy of Marcel Duchamp.
MOMOZONO Arte della Sartoria was used to also reuse many antique materials also from Japan and France, many resources came from the poor society in the past such as peasants. Patchworked fabrics are originally born from the necessities of poor societies in order to keep things longly because of the difficult life conditions. This philosophy actually made us aware and gave new idea and inspirations for the solutions facing the global environmental issues.

The wisdom that I learned from the antique poor cultures is essential inspirations of "sustainable" thinking and designing of MOMOZONO Arte della Sartoria. There are some municipalities in the world that is controlled and coexisted by mafia and poor society such as "Favela" in Brazil or "Scampia" in Naples in south Italy. A common sense of those two cultures is interestingly the values of the garbages that are given new values for purpose of reuse but after become completely another objects. When they also gather those garbages together like a piece of wood as a constructions of residences, it gets a strong impression by weird spirits and almost immortal guts of survival mentality. In fact many good ideas and designs are found and inspired by those cultures even in the field of fashion design in order to find the solution of social inclusion and environmental issues.

MOMOZONO Arte della Sartoria also researches natural dye products and gives careful attention when dyeing the fabrics by hand trying not to use chemical products as much as possible, not to pollute the environment around and using natural drain system.
Due to the influence of the coronavirus, the fashion world is changing drastically. New consciousness of fashion fas forced new choices not only for creators but also for the actual consumers.
Many people are starting to be aware from mass consumption cultures that doesn't project brighter future anymore. Today it became indispensable tasks for all type of creators to consider how to protect and preserve the beauties of natural environment in the future.
MOMOZONO Arte della Sartoria proposes designs for new future visions that will improve the global environmental situation. Human beings no longer need to create products that will continue to impose damaging on this planet. New fashion design are now required strong power that overturns our collective consciousness of the past history and the unconscious brainwashing that is still dominated our mind.
MOMOZONO Arte della Sartoria sincerely hopes to create better future by gathering new collective consciousness that are awaken from the mistake of human being and human creations to rebuild a brighter fashion culture again. The key to win the consciousness from the past to the future is always our intention of "changing the world" and give a look to each mistakes that human being have experienced if we look at carefully what we did wrong in this planet we will find the solutions because we are already a part of this planet.
